- Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) is the best site to find out about ecovillages, what they are, where they are, all over the world. There is not much point in trying to duplicate their comprehensive listings of ecovillages. Here is a direct link to a list held on the GEN website with more than 300 members:

I propose to remove any external links to any ecovillage from this page. if you have any personal experience with any ecovillage you like to share you are welcome to create a page for this report and link to it from the index above. ~Hans
Hi :) Could we please make an exception for Kakwa? Russ is a member here and I find his website to be written from the 'personal experience' perspective, informative and real. I added this page to the Community section with hopes that we could write about community life in an ecovillage. (I think we have GEN links over in the Permaculture section.) The opening paragraph for this section could set the tone - just needs to be written. ~Gemma
Hi Gemma, perhaps Russ or you could write a page about Kakwa, and link to it from here. I do not wish to see this page becoming a list of links to interesting ecovillages. To make any ecovillage relevant here we should write about it, preferably from first hand experience. The link to GEN is appropiate here and will help all searching for specific ecovillages, and to learn about general principles as well. I think it would be good to introduce these general principles here too (what is an ecovillage?) ~Hans
