Here are some suggestions for the unfolding of the Earth page, which seems to be growing into the "central" page of the wiki.

I am really appreciating that you put down this new blueprint here, so we can discuss it. It would have been even better if we could have looked at this before embarking on a radical restructuring of the existing Earth page. But I also appreciate all of our discussion so far on Website Discussion. Thank you! and I am confident that we will get to agree on some good way forward. ~Hans

(This is merely a working space page... please play with it as you see fit, so we can come up with something we all agree on)

The Challenges We Face

(Could we please keep this title? It reframes the typical perspective of global issues from "problems", which is the typical response, to "challenges", which is a more empowering statement, implying that we can meet them.)

Could we think about having only one link for each "issue" in this section, with the secondary page becoming the index for that issue, the way the Climate change page is now? Then the issues can be presented in a balanced way on each page and a different, more overlighting kind of balance could be sought on this page - between the "web of destruction" and the "web of life" perspectives as a whole?

So there could be only five or six links in this section (for now, with more added as other issues surface:

  • Climate Change --> new page with all the climate change links, both scary and visionary
  • Fossil Fuel Dependency --> new page with all the fossil fuel links, alternate transportation, localization etc. or whatever Gemma saw in EOS?
  • Increasing Energy Demands --> overview of the problem, and Green energy links
  • Global Economic Issues --> etc.
  • Degradation of the Environment and Species Extinction --> etc.
  • Overpopulation, Urbanisation and Disconnection from Nature --> etc.
  • Consumerism and Limited Resources --> etc. with links re: voluntary simplicity

Visionary Thinking: Ideas for Personal and Social Transformation

(Not happy with this title, but this section could contain the forward thinking stuff that is more personal/attitudinal, or broader overviews than the practical stuff in the previous section)

  • This section could have links to pages with some of the visionary thinkers' profiles, summaries of their work, perhaps book reviews
  • also links to pages describing the various ecology movements, like deep ecology, ecophilosophy, ecopsychology etc. etc. for people to connect with, depending on their interests
  • also perhaps a link to the two Reconnect with Nature exercises?
  • and a link to this article? Cosmology and the New Political Activism
