Some months ago, I asked Harry how to listen to the earth. Here's his answer:
I believe that many people have the opportunity to discover silence, as rare as it might seem to me at this time in space, but within that silence, there is so much else going on. The way I prepare to earth myself is a long walk through wild terrain, maybe even up a mountain without a footpath (remember – I need more than the average person) if a hill is fine for you, just give yourself enough time to walk out all your thoughts till your mind is light and your 3rd wind has kicked in. It often helps if you can unburden from the day or week or whatever is on your mind. It is different for every person and I find that people who are naturally less afraid of things they don’t know, learn faster.
Anyway. Find a place of interest, and sit and stay there for as long as you can. Block out every other thought that comes to mind other than thanking the Creator for putting you right there right now.
Sometimes I imagine a circle around me (about 3m diameter) and I study everything in that circle. The soil I sit on, the pebbles around me, the grass that grows, the sand, dust, insects, even the air that I am breathing. How does it smell, taste, feel? What can I hear (and this is why cities aren’t great for it) and why is it making that noise?
Like a snake that lays his head on the ground to pick up the vibrations of its prey through its jawbone, I sit rooted to the earth/tree/rock picking up the vibrations from my surroundings by training all senses available. And they include presence of spirit and life power like Father Sun and Grandmother Moon etc. I accept that I am one with all in that circle and I expand it as soon as I feel the need to look further.
By now you should start becoming aware of what is static in your immediate environment and what is not. Greet the living things like trees in your field of influence and let them get used to you being there. Respect them by saying thank you that they give you shade and keep the air cool and feed and shelter so many other living things. Give thanks for the water that gets pulled up through the trees, like it gets pulled from your body by the sun. Understand that everything is connected and made of the same material and that it is only the vessel that transports its energy. Greet everything that comes around to greet you, birds, insects, animals.
After a while they will start talking. You just listen.
We are very lucky. All other life is here in a supportive role. We are the harvesters and if we do not show respect to those that give us life, we will lose it. That is why I say thanks first when I sit there. When I have shown my respect and remained in its company for long enough to be earthed/balanced/retuned, they speak. Not in low treelike voices like the ‘ents in LOR’, but knowledge. Why it is there, in that exact spot, what it is doing, why it is doing it and how privileged we are to experience it. When I walk along the sidewalk here in London and the standing nation is literally tarred in, I run my hand along the trunk and feel that it is more dry than it’s neighbour who stands near the storm water drain. I feel that the rings inside are more compacted and I feel the higher vibration dissimilar to its brother next to it. Even though I do not think the tree mentally has any collection of thought pondering its disposition, it still is not doing as great as the other and every tree and every plant and every animal has a certain amount of years life before it expires.
Reasons for knowing things become clear only after it has become obvious, because I was present and aware when it happened.
Thank you, Harry. :-)
