Prayers of Protection are petitions to the Divine for help in keeping us safe from dangers, real and imagined, of all sorts. From the simple childrens' prayer, "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep..." to the modern affirmative style Unity prayer below, these prayers have been the mainstay of our relationship to the Divine as protector, parent, shepherd, and friend.
The Unity Prayer of Protection
The light of God surrounds me.
The love of God enfolds me.
The power of God protects me.
The presence of God watches over me.
Wherever I am, God is!
All is well. And so it is.
Amen.
Dear God,
We pray for all your children.
Deliver us from evil,
and protect us as we dwell
in the shadow of your wings.
Amen.
The Lord is my shepherd - Psalm 23
